There are an uncountable number of open source applications that are available. One really great place to start when looking for these applications is http://sourceforge.net as quoted from their site: “SourceForge.net is the world's largest Open Source software development web site. SourceForge.net provides free hosting to Open Source software development projects with a centralized resource for managing projects, issues, communications, and code.”

I'm going to talk about some of the applications that I have used, and some that I have heard about, and some that I think I would like to hear more about and maybe tinker with.

I have split up the applications i'm going to talk about into categories. User Driven Content is going to discuss applications like blogs, wikis and forums. Website Management is going to include Content Management Systems, News and Events and Web Analytics Utilities. Virtual Spaces is for applications like Second Life.
